The project

Join a heritage restoration project in the beautiful town of Bazas, right in the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers vineyards!

You’ll help bring a historic cobbled path back to life by clearing away weeds and repairing the stone joints worn down over time. This path, which leads into the town through the Porte du Gisquet stone gate, is part of Bazas' medieval entrance.

You’ll be guided by an experienced technical leader who will teach you traditional restoration techniques — no experience needed, just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

Accommodation & food

You’ll be staying in individual tents, provided by Concordia, at the town’s sports centre. Facilities include toilets, showers, a kitchen, and a communal living area.

Everyone will take part in daily tasks like cleaning and organising activities. Meals will be planned and cooked together as a group, using a shared budget.

We encourage a vegetarian diet using local, seasonal ingredients, but all dietary needs will be respected. WIFI is available on site.

Location & leisure

Bazas is a vibrant town in south-west France, surrounded by vineyards and countryside.

You’ll have the chance to visit nearby castles, villages, and wineries, and even take a trip to Bordeaux, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, just 1.5 hours away.

Bazas itself is full of charm, with lively markets, narrow medieval streets, cafés, and its impressive Saint-Jean-Baptiste cathedral. During the summer, the town hosts plenty of festivals and local events you’ll be able to join.

If you enjoy the outdoors, there are lots of natural parks and places for kayaking or canoeing nearby.

Project host

The commune of Bazas is leading this project to restore an important historic pathway.

It’s an everyday route for local residents, but time has made it difficult to use, especially for people with reduced mobility. It’s also part of the famous Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route, attracting visitors from all over the world.
