The project
Volunteers will immerse themselves in the daily life of this dynamic community, taking part in renovation projects across the village buildings and engaging in a “participatory construction site.” Work includes landscape maintenance, gardening, and helping prepare communal lunches alongside residents. Beyond physical tasks, volunteers will gain insight into sustainable community living, sociocratic governance, permaculture-based ecological gardening, building care, and practical landscape maintenance, contributing directly to the growth and mission of Waldhof.
Accommodation & food
Volunteers stay in simple shared dormitories with mattress sleeping arrangements. A kitchen is available for participants to prepare their own breakfast and dinner, while lunch on workdays is cooked and shared with the community, fostering a social and collaborative environment.
Location & leisure
Environment: Zukunftsdorf Waldhof is set in a tranquil rural area, surrounded by forests and nature. Within 3 km, volunteers can explore a historic castle and a scenic reservoir lake.
Leisure Time: Opportunities include forest walks, hikes, swimming in the reservoir, and visiting the castle. The community also organizes fireside music sessions, creative workshops, and social gatherings, allowing volunteers to connect with residents and enjoy local cultural activities.
