The project

Join an international team of volunteers to bring the World Cultures Festival to life in Gannat! Before the festival begins, you’ll help create decorations and set up the event spaces. During the festival, your tasks will include welcoming visitors, helping artists, running refreshment stands (like the crêpe stall!), and leading creative workshops. After the celebrations end, you'll help take down the equipment. You’ll get a real insight into how a major festival is run and you'll experience the lively, welcoming atmosphere alongside dancers and musicians from across the world.

Accommodation & food

You’ll stay in your own tent in a dedicated green space at the municipal stadium. Toilets, showers, and kitchen facilities are available in a nearby building.

Life at camp is organised by the volunteers: you'll help plan meals, do the shopping, cook together, and keep the shared spaces clean. You’ll also help shape daily life by taking part in group decisions and activities.

It's a friendly, communal experience with plenty of time to relax and socialise.

Location & leisure

The project takes place in Gannat, in the Allier department of France, between Clermont-Ferrand and Moulins.

Gannat is famous for its "Cultures du Monde" festival, now in its 51st year, making it a key cultural event in the region.

During your free time, you can explore Gannat’s medieval town centre, discover the local countryside, and enjoy the festival’s concerts, parades, and workshops.

Project host

This project is hosted by the National Association of Cultures du Monde (ANCM), an organisation that has promoted the world's intangible cultural heritage for over 50 years.

Each year, they organise the Cultures du Monde festival to celebrate diversity and share living traditions from around the globe.
