The project

In the heart of the town of Roye, the ancient ramparts bear witness to a rich past...but time has left its mark. This historic site is a must-see for locals, and with your help, it will regain its beauty!

Your mission? Clean and remove vegetation from the ramparts, then repair and repoint the damaged sections using basic masonry techniques. Beyond the manual work, you will also help promote this heritage site by sharing its history with local people and taking part in activities that bring the place back to life.

Accommodation & food

You will be hosted in individual tents next to the village hall Guy Marechal equipped with a kitchen, and set up as a living space for your visit. Showers and toilets will be available in the restroom of the stadium in front of the living area. Community life will be at the heart of the experience: you will share daily tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the animation team, and you will take part in grocery shopping and meal preparation, with a focus on healthy and locally sourced products.

Location & leisure

Get ready for a warm welcome from the people of Roye! An opening ceremony with the city hall, meetings with local residents and activities with beneficiaries of the Local Social Action Centre (CCAS) will be part of your stay. On top of that, many events will be organized by the town during the project, including a famous... foam party! For some free-time relaxation, the swimming pool is just a short walk from the accommodation, and the town will likely provide unlimited access, so don’t forget your swimsuit!

Project host

This project is hosted by Concordia France, a long‑established, non‑profit youth and education organisation founded in 1950 to promote peace, intercultural exchange and active citizenship through international volunteering.

Concordia runs short‑, mid‑ and long‑term volunteer projects across France, working closely with local communities to support environmental initiatives, cultural heritage restoration, social inclusion, and community development. Their approach is rooted in non‑formal education, bringing together volunteers from around the world to learn through collective living, shared responsibility and meaningful community action.

With a national headquarters in Paris and 11 regional offices, Concordia hosts hundreds of international volunteers every year and is an active member of both the Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations and CCIVS (under UNESCO).
