The project

The Youth Climate Meeting, taking place from 21 to 24 May, is an annual gathering designed to bring together young environmental activists for four days of training, dialogue and movement‑building. Now in its eighth edition, the event blends national and international perspectives, offering sessions in English and welcoming activists from across Europe.

Throughout the meeting, participants will engage in talks, workshops and collaborative working groups that explore a wide range of urgent environmental topics, including climate justice, renewable energy transitions, circular economy principles, environmental crime and eco‑mafia issues, as well as sustainable food systems, agroecology and animal welfare.

A strong focus is placed on participatory, inclusive methods that encourage collective and horizontal dialogue, with particular attention to perspectives such as intersectionality and eco‑transfeminism, which are increasingly shaping contemporary environmental activism.

Accommodation & food

Participants will have access to affordable and sustainable accommodation options, with all mealsl offered in vegetarian and vegan varieties, included in the participation fee. Those who choose to stay in a shared bungalow, typically housing around six people, will pay €40 for the full stay, while participants who bring their own tent can take part for €15.

In line with the event’s commitment to reducing waste and minimising environmental impact, everyone is asked to bring their own plate, cutlery, cup and water bottle to help avoid disposable materials and promote responsible consumption.

Location & leisure

The event will be held at the Oasi Dunale di Paestum in Campania, a coastal setting that not only provides an inspiring environment for environmental reflection but also offers opportunities for relaxation by the sea.

Alongside learning and activist sessions, participants will be able to enjoy informal social moments, music and time outdoors, creating a balanced space for both community‑building and personal wellbeing. Decompression areas and informal spaces are available to support participants’ mental and emotional needs, while the programme also includes the chance to discover local initiatives such as Orto Mondo, a Legambiente Paestum project that integrates environmental stewardship, zero‑kilometre agriculture and social co‑housing for migrant workers in the Piana del Sele.

Project host

The Youth Climate Meeting is organised by the Legambiente Youth Committee and forms part of the wider European Youth in Action (EYA) project. The initiative is co‑funded through the European Union’s CERV Programme, supporting civic engagement and democratic participation. This edition also features significant international involvement, with activists, organisations and environmental movements from various European countries contributing their experiences to strengthen transnational networks for climate action.

Travelling from the UK to the Youth Climate Meeting in Paestum can be done entirely by low‑carbon, flight‑free routes by combining trains and, if needed, ferries. A common sustainable journey begins with taking the Eurostar from London to Paris or taking the ferry from Dover to Calais, followed by the train to Paris.

High‑speed trains from Paris connect to major northern Italian cities such as Turin or Milan, and onward the next morning to Naples or Salerno, from where regional trains run directly to Paestum.

Registration for the event is open until 10 May, and participation requires completing the official Youth Climate Meeting 2026 form.

The organisers aim to ensure an accessible and supportive experience for all attendees, with dedicated teams available to listen to participants' needs and help maintain a welcoming, respectful and safe environment throughout.

To uphold the event’s sustainability principles, participants are required to bring their own reusable eating and drinking materials, reducing waste production. For any questions or further information, attendees can contact the organising team directly at ycm@legambiente.it.
