The project
This Work Camp takes place during the Dana Cup, where a large part of the tasks are connected to serving and supporting around 20,000 football players. The main responsibility for participants will be catering and kitchen assistance, helping to prepare, serve, and manage meals to ensure that all participants are well taken care of throughout the tournament. In addition to kitchen and catering duties, there will also be opportunities to assist with other practical tasks. These may include helping with the establishment of event areas, maintenance of indoor and outdoor spaces, cleaning, painting accommodation cabins, repairing dormitories in Dana Cup Town, and supporting general logistics before and during the tournament. The work is expected to be organized in two shifts between 08:00 and 21:00.
Accommodation & food
Sleeping and bathroom facilities: Participants sleep in tents, and we will provide the linens, duvets, etc. Participants are, of course, welcome to bring their sleeping bags or similar if needed or wished upon. There are both baths and toilets available. Laundry facilities are available for free.
Meals and kitchen facilities: The host will provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the volunteers will be eating with other volunteers and event participants. Vegetarian and vegan food will be provided.
Location & leisure
During your stay in Northern Jutland, you will have time to explore some unique nature and attractions in Denmark. You can, for example, arrange a day trip to Skagen, the most Northern tip of Denmark, where two oceans meet. Skagen is famous for the special light, which has attracted many painters, cozy yellow and red houses, and much more. You can also visit the city of Hjørring or take a day trip to Aalborg.
One of the neighboring towns, called Hirtshals, has the biggest Aquarium in Northern Europe. And in another neighboring town is the biggest summer amusement park in Denmark. Your Work Camp leaders will help you and the group with organizing activities in your spare time. It is free to enjoy the beautiful nature of Northern Jutland, but some activities might require an extra charge. The host will not cover additional charges.
Project host
A non-profit organization runs the Dana Cup, and the event is one of the world's largest international youth soccer tournaments. Every year, in the last week of July, the soccer tournament brings together around 20.000 young people between 12 and 19 years old and their coaches. They come to Hjørring in northern Denmark from 45 different nations, representing 1000 football teams. Dana Cup Week brings a great party in Hjørring, and the atmosphere is amazing! It is the fifth Work Camp at this huge sports event, and it was a great experience in 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. We are very excited about another camp in 2026.
